luck link
This is an interesting link http://neatorama.cachefly.net/YB/secret-of-luck.htm about luck. Seems to prove that attitude does matter.

power of quotes
Another beliefnet article, this one is nice confirmation for me that quotes do work. I really believe that, have quotes all over the place, in my bedroom, my office, on my computer, etc. Here is the link: http://www.beliefnet.com/Health/Emotional-Health/Depression/10-Inspiring-Quotes-for-a-Depressed-Heart.aspx
beliefnet.com is a cool site
What an interesting story, from beliefnet.com's Web site, http://www.beliefnet.com/. This is the link to the article http://www.beliefnet.com/Health/2008/09/Happiness-Lessons-from-Around-the-World.aspx about how one of the writer's traveled to places where people were/are happy and he wrote about them.

whole foods gift card
I get a Whole Food gift card for 25 dollars for Christmas, it's part of my Secret Santa gift, which also includes lots of Fiji water. I get some Bridgewater Chocolates, which are yummy, I know from past experience, but not sure whether to save them for when I want a real treat or give them away to someone who might want them? I'm getting better at being able to leave chocolates hanging around the house without being tempted. I used to have no willpower, but now that I know how good I feel when I don't eat crap (how few headaches I get and how much thinner I am and how much more energy I have), it's easier to resist the tempting foods.

downward slide...
So, I had a little bit of a slide this week. Been eating candy out of the 25 cent machines at work, the machines that spill out a few M&M's, a few almonds (you know these almonds aren't the healthy kind, they probably have lots of crap in them). I need to get back on the horse...I even had red wine last night. Two glasses with dinner and then some guy bought me a third glass, which I almost finished. I haven't had wine in months, but felt like I should treat myself because it's Christmas. We had such a fun day shopping and the bar/restaurant was so hopping with people having holiday celebrations. It was delicious wine in these huge fancy glasses, the bartender at Grant's was treating us nice. But this can't be a regular occurrance. Luckily I don't feel too bad this a.m., but if I ate and drank like this all the time I would be dragging all the time.
I need to get to the health food store today and stock up on healthy foods so I'm not tempted to eat crappy again.

lovely e-mail
I just got this lovely email Tuesday from Lissa Coffey. I'm on her email list and try to read them every day. This one is inspiring and an easy idea to implement.
"Ayurveda teaches us to eat the freshest food possible. Organic is best because besides being fresh, there are no pesticides used. We can also go organic in our homes and offices. Consider using products that come from nature when making purchases. For example, a wicker wastebasket is more lovely to look at than a plastic one, and does the job equally well. Glass is made from sand, and ceramic is made from clay, evoking the element of earth. Both can be used as candle holders, dishware, picture frames and more. Wood looks rich and beautiful and adds another natural element to décor. Fill a basket with pinecones or chestnuts and bring it indoors. Or display some seashells and seaglass. You'll have a something beautiful to look at, and also get the natural fragrances from nature, too. Fresh cut flowers add color, and plants freshen the air!"

Moisturizers containing estrogen linked to cancer
Saw this at http://health.yahoo.com/news/reuters/us_estrogen_moisturizers.html
It's an article about how women even without breast cancer could be at risk.

whole foods
I had spent like 2 hours in the Whole Foods store this week. It was a day off, and I went after the doctor and just felt like unwinding. I think I was asked about 5 times by staff there if I needed help! They were all really friendly but I felt self-conscious and so I finally left, probably could have stayed longer. That place has everything.
I got some organic items for my aunt for a gift basket for X-mas.
Got face make-up.
Got the royal jelly and more wheat grass.
Got a yummy pumpkin pie dessert. I know I'm going off my diet here but this dessert had really good ingredients in it.
I also got some cashew butter that looked interesting but when I took it home and tasted it, it was horrible. R even thought it was horrible.

royal jelly
Bought some royal jelly at Whole Foods this week. Just tried it today and it's not that good. Sounds like it would be a yummy honey alternative, but ick, it's not nice. I guess that is why they tell you on the bottle that you can mix it with honey. That should have warned me the taste was going to be horrible.
Anyway, if it does wonders for my body that's all that really matters!

blow outs
I still can't give up these blowouts. There's no way I can make my hair look this beautiful on my own. This Brazilian lady is unbelievable, she has the touch that I have never seen in a hairdresser. Louis Licari salon in NYC can't even compete when it comes to blowouts.
She and I both agree that it's more worth it to spend money on your hair than on your clothes. If you have a choice that is. I'd rather spend money on both! The only issue with Leidi is that she uses products that have bad stuff in them, like parabans, etc. One of these days, I guess, I should give her bottles of my "greener" hair products and have her use those.
