exercise

Did not leave the house yesterday, at all! I was very productive during the day, cleaning attic, blogging, e-mailing, etc. and felt I could continue through Friday when I would leave for hair appt. Decided not to go to happy hour in Greenwich with Karin. But by dinnertime I was a little restless. When Ashe called about movie meetup, I was tempted to get out, but then he called back and said he wasn't going. I was a bit relieved because I was in the middle of many projects and felt like I was getting somewhere with them all. I made homemade hummus and it was so delicious I couldn't stop saying "Oh my G-d," to my R's annoyance, though R did eat half of it. I also made lentils and pretty much ate them all day. I almost made it to the gym, but didn't. Before bed, I weighed myself and I was 131, yikes. I want to get back to 117 that I was over the summer, although I don't want to get back to that weight by being sad like I was this summer. I want to do it a much healthier way.
This morning, I'm 128, so I feel a little better. But I really need to exercise almost daily, not once a week or twice a week, like I have been doing lately. I feel better when I move and for someone like me who is so in her head, I think it's healthy for my spirit and my mind as well as my body.
I also tried Green Vibrance for the first time today, I had that instead of my multi and instead of the wheat grass I have been taking for these last few weeks. I figure Green Vibrance, which costs like 48 a pop, has the wheat grass in it so while double the efforts.

juicer

I juice more today, but realize I have a cheapo juicer, it takes forever to juice...it was only like 40 bucks or so at K-Mart...It's doing the job, for now, but if this becomes a serious routine in my life I need to get a better one...Cleaning the attic is also very therapeutic. I can't help but wonder if the desire to get my attic in order stems from the cleaning up I have been doing of my body in the last few weeks. The only snag I hit in the attic is the mouse poop. I realize hintavirus is rare and I believe it is confined to the west, but I do worry a tiny bit and wear gloves. I throw lots of junk out, but keep some things, including a Disneyland GE radio that I used to love as a kid. It's so massive, the size of a boom box. I also finally find that white ceramic juicer my mom had while we were growing up, this is perfect to make fresh squeezed juice.

dueling docs

Dr. Andrew Weil and Dr. Joel Fuhrman are two docs I admire. Their ideas on food have resonated with me, and I have followed many of their recommendations over the years. I just came upon an apparent conflict, though. Dr. Fuhrman says to watch your Vitamin A/betacarotone and his supplements don't come with Vitamin A or betacarotene. He explains there could be concern many things, including with tumor growth...However the vitamins I have of Dr. Weil's, which I bought a few weeks ago at Whole Foods in Westport, have the Vit A/betacarotene. I think I will err on the side of caution and go with Dr. Fuhrman on this one. I will probably continue to take Dr. Weil's Vitamins, but maybe like once a week, so I don't get too much of the A/betacarotene. Meanwhile, I will order the Dr. Fuhrman vitamins.

juicing

what i did today was juice...had the day off so spent time in kitchen. i could juice all day! as i juice (and drink the juice) i realize how vivid the tastes are...the mint i put in with my green apple, carrots and celery is so minty and amazing, i can't believe it! this is definitely one of the benefits to giving up sugar, it's really true, you do taste things more...i also read a book by julia indichova, called fertile female, and she is so inspiring...she writes for women who are wanting babies but having trouble conceiving, but her work is inspiring even if you aren't trying for a baby...the food section of fertile female is really good, very sound advice, much of which i have read over the years from my favorite medical gurus, like dr. weil and dr. fuhrman...she does mention goji (sp?) berries, which i think i have seen in the health food stores, but never thought much of...but i google the berry and learn it's supposed to be a nutritional star fruit, comes from tibet and has tons (not literally) of antioxidants...i think i will order some...

nail buffing

I read in Vanity Fair that Ashley Olsen buffs her nails - no polish. This might be the answer I have been looking for. I want to look polished and love the way polish looks on women. I feel attractive when I do wear it. I know my ex liked it. But I don't want the chemicals and haven't been able to find a good holistic brand.
